Web Design, Photography + Copy Editing in Victoria, BC

About

Hello

Live from the stage/my workspace

I'm Lauren Scott, an artist and web developer living and working in Victoria, BC, on the the traditional territories of the Lekwungen peoples.

After earning a BFA in Photography from Emily Carr University I spent a decade working at Emily Carr, the latter half of which was spent as a Studio Technician within Continuing Studies. My responsibilities included public programming, administration, technical support, and web administration. I helped support Continuing Studies curriculum as well as a dynamic community studio made up of committed artists and designers (the now defunct Leeway Studio).

During this time I balanced my day job while maintaining my personal art practice making photography, sculpture, text-based and textile work. I also took on side projects both for myself and others, focusing on web-based artist portfolios, photo-documentation and copy editing.

In 2016 I moved to Victoria and made a career shift to freelance web design. I built up new skills by taking part time and online courses and also learned so much on the job. In 2018 I was hired as a Front-end Web Developer at Benevity where I enjoy working alongside super smart and thoughtful folks making software that helps infuse a culture of goodness in the world through fundraising and volunteering.
