This Wordpress site replaced a dated Wix template in order to improve mobile accessibility and overall design. I built a child-theme to customize the design and layout of the site while still making use of the robust framework that the Wordpress Twenty Seventeen theme offers. We incorporated a footer with open hours and an interactive, embedded Google Map as well as prominent call and email links throughout the site to ensure clients can quickly and easily get in touch with the clinic.
This customized Squarespace portfolio shows the work of Victoria, BC, based artist, Robert Fisher. In order to show the detail and visual diversity of Robert's sculptures I photographed them at various angles and included these views on a detailed page for each sculpture. In a somewhat whimsical gesture, we also included an animated GIF on the home page of the site to draw in visitors and show the complexity of the sculpture. I personally love these sculptures, and the site was a pleasure to work on.
I coached Doreen through the documentation of her work, and helped troubleshoot some issues such as photographing framed artwork and removing glare in post-production. Later, I worked with Doreen to plan the layout and organization of the site and contributed to the copy editing of her bio and artist's statement before building the site with Squarespace. Finally, I used Squarespace's SEO-targeting features to increase the site's visibility to search engines, helping clients, peers and others find Doreen's work with ease.
This Tumblr blog uses a Pixel Union theme to showcase new work, events, work in progress, and re-blogs of inspiring work by others. The Tumblr platform offers a vast network of artist, designers, and makers (among others!) creating posts and sharing culture.
